Thus, managers of the modern companies argon looking for the new ways of employee motivation. Freedom for bodily function is an essential factor to consider. Actually, when we hear about the organization, where employees make decisions themselves, we usually cant believe that, because a great number of successful companies ar hierarchical bureaucracies (Microsoft, Apple etc.). It seems impossible also for many managers to provide staff with opportunities to set the goals for the society instead of them and to stimulate these goals without being controlled and thoroughly supervised. Also we all know the conclusion made by Max Weber bureaucratic organizations are the most successful players on the stage of the market economy. H owever, modern experts admit that Webers conclusion cant be considered fully grounded as the famous sociologist may not know some important facts on bureaucracies. Modern investigations show that workplace stress prevents people from high performance. Working in the conditions of hierarchical bureaucracy, people are able to realize and 60% of their potential. Thus, it is essential to look for alternatives. Moreover, as it was mentioned above, modern people often refuse to work in the atmosphere of dictate, when they should only fulfill somebodys orders and do not have an fortune to express their own opinion. Such working conditions prevent people from the realization of their seminal potential and it is obvious that such realization would contribute to companys success. Business planning Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Business planning - Essay ExampleFor formation of a successful business plan all the internal line players of the organization should be involved. Their suggestions and ideas should be valued by the top level management and the business head as they are more involved in the on field tasks and can give an insight of on field operations. Also all the core components of the business i.e. all the departments of the business should be actively involved in the business process of planning as they specialize in their respective departments. They know what their strengths and weaknesses are and through this the business can take out its strengths and weaknesses as a whole. By consulting and getting a vote of majority on which goals and objectives to pursue the business functions as a whole and the departments will function efforts for achievement of these goals and objectives later on in the execution stage as they were involved in the planning process and their opinions and suggestions w ere valued. As most of the business plans in the industry which stool been successful had the inclusion of the internal stakeholders of the business in the planning process this indicates that the claim made by Stutley was quite true in the sense that if in the start all the internal key players of business from the start are involved in the business activities , this makes a sense of self-command and loyalty prevail amongst the members of the organization and each player feels as an important member of the business hence working for the good of business is taken up as a responsibility by the members of the organization which is quite necessary for business to expand and succeed. A business plan in simple lyric can be stated as those set of activities or the line of action which is needed to be followed or taken by an organization or a corporation to identify its goals and objectives. It can be termed as the backbone of firms business i.e. it guides the company or the organizatio n to the right manner so as to adhere to its vision and stay put on its mission along with catering to the organizations need for arrangement of resources and have certain contingency measures available at all times in case of problems and troublesome situations. For many people there is a certain misconception that a business plan is formed only while starting the business as it indentifies the short and long term objectives the business wants to achieve over a period of time. That is a structured presentation of business goals and objectives, along with the inclusion of financial statements through which business can approach investors for investments and loans. But in human beings a business plan is a framework for running the business and according to certain situations or scenarios faced , the plan can be changed and spic-and-span additions or modifications can be made in the original plan later on in to business. Not everything can be included in the business plan from the start as you cannot perfectly predict how much investment and resources will be required and how will the market trends change or shift from time to

The Album Close to You by the Carpenters Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

The Album Close to You by the Carpenters - Essay ExampleThis album get them on their way to fame and success. though non comprehended by critics, the album has made it to the top 200, which emphasizes the fact that they did have talent. Rolling Stone, describing Karen, comments that Hers is a function of fascinating contrasts, combining youth with wisdom chilling beau ideal with much warmth (Changi Airport Enjoy the Elegance). Jon Landau, says that Karen has in all the qualities of a good pop singer, phrasing with subtlety and ease. On the other hand, some critics think that her voice has not got any depth and is just sort of simple. Other critics believe that Karen does not have much stage presence when she play the drums and sing along, it is not elegant enough. However, Richards work is well appreciated for his rhythmic tunes and, yet again, critics did not enjoy his lead in some songs. The band, consisting of this duo, is however, soaring high later on the release of the title song Close To You, which rank 1 on Billboard Hot 100 and stayed on top for four weeks. In my opinion, they landed a spot in the Rolling Stone list because the album had become a hit even though the political situations were not complaisant during the time. The popular demand continued to grow on wild and loud rock, whereas they featured soft and melodious music. The album showcased Karens wide ranged voice and excessively original compositions of Richard, namely, Mr. Guder, Maybe Its You and Crescent Noon. It is difficult to say that the album was a success only due to one of them. Rather, it was a joint effort and has trustworthy attention throughout the world. Though they have mixed reviews, the album has won the hearts of a lot of mess. I genuinely enjoyed the album and I am thankful for having been given this assignment as it has given me the opportunity to explore into details the depths of songs that I did not even know existed. I find all the songs very good and my personal favorite is Maybe Its You. The song just spoke to me, I was instantly amazed. The piano brings out all the delicacy of the song. Though the lyrics might not be much, but still couldnt we stay and watch the splashing rocks we throw? (Maybe Its You Lyrics The Carpenters) expresses inner most feelings and emotions that are all right touching. The first stanza itself paints a lovely picture of a couple walking down the beach. The soft music reflects the calm waves lapping up the shore. There is a really soothing feel to that song which instantly makes one feel good. Well at least to me it does. The songs range from soft to deep to haunting and remain types. This is what makes the album so special. Its diversity has the ability to draw the audience to it and make them stay with it for long. The music world has a lot to offer, and it is a blessing to us that music from those times has been recorded. If man had not found a way to capture music, then so much would have gone to w aste. Though people are not immortal, their works are. They continue to exist through the wonderful contributions they have made to this world. Saying this, I do believe that Karen remains in a lot of peoples hearts. Not to mention her partner throughout this wonderful journey, her brother Richard, whose musical arrangements and tune compilations have brought the songs to life. I really appreciate their hard work and though they did get thrown into the world of overnight fame after the release of the song

Principles of finance - Essay ExampleIn this case, the debitor is the companies in question. In most cases, this is termed as assets granted, particularly by the creditor to the debtor. The debtor agrees to repay the debt with an interest. virtually companies use debt as part of their strategy in corporate finance. Before the debt is issued, both parties stool to agree on the standard of deferred payment. In most cases, this repayment is in the mode of currency (Blum 2006). However, this repayment can be in the form of goods and services. Payment can be paid in installments or in the whole amount at the end of a loan agreement. A comp either offers different kinds of debts to customers to finance its operations. There are secured and unsecured debts, depending on whether the creditors retain recourse to the assets of the borrower or not. In addition, there are private or public loans depending on the parties involved. One of the main reason why companies tend not to issue as much debt as possible is the fear of becoming bankrupt. If a company issues more debt than its stipulated crownwork, then the possibility of bankruptcy is usually high. This is in particular in unsecured debts, and the borrower happens to forfeit payment. If this happens with a considerable number of borrowers, then the company can be at an extreme risk (DePamphilis 2011). Therefore, these companies offer debts amounting to the given over budget. The financial advisors of the company advise the top managers on the considerable amount of debts to issue that would not alter the normal functioning of the company in any way. Secondly, a company whitethorn not be in a position to offer as much debt as possible. This is because the company may be undergoing some(prenominal) harsh economic times. Therefore, the companys initial capital might be limited to offering a given amount of debt. During this period, some companies may not offer any debt at all. Therefore, the amount of debts a co mpany offers is often guided by the economic situations of the company particularly the capital in place (Forsythyl 2009). In addition, most of the risks involved may deter a company from issuing as many debts as possible. The companies, with the help of their financial advisers, look into all the risks in all the risks involved before issuing the debts. These risks may be as a result of economic downtowns, variability in the interest rates experienced and changes in the conditions of the market. Some companies tend to take the risks but obviously at a minimum (Prattie 2011). Fewer companies are unforced to take many risks, therefore, tending to issue a limited amount of debts as possible. Moreover, some of these companies tend to put in place a parcel out of terms and conditions required before one gains access to these loans. Therefore, some debtors tend to bark out of the lending process due to all these requisites. Some of the requirement of a company before issuance of debts is collateral mostly in the form of assets. The debtor may not possess the required collateral and, therefore, may not be legible to qualify for a debt from a certain company in question. In addition, the interest rates required by the company may be too high for the debtor not forgetting the question of having to follow the covenant made in the process. More to this is that this debt has to be repaid. Therefore, the investor or debtor in question has to have a stable cash flow to be in a position to repay in the stipulated time (Black 2010). Therefore, the appetence in making investment decisions is reduced. As a result, fewer debtors would be in a position to take the risk because a few of them have a stable cash flow. They may, therefore, fear the consequences that follow a forfeited debt payment therefore reducing the amount

The Road by Cormac McCarthy Essay Example for Free

The Road by Cormac McCarthy EssayThe Road by Cormac McCarthy is a novel based in a post-apocalyptic world. It revolves some the life of a acquire and a son who are struggling to survive. eachthing around them is destroyed, filled with modify and stripped of life yet the two continue to move south, towards the sea hoping for better days to come. Their confronts are lived in a constant state of fear. Every day spent scavenging for food as they are constantly moving, trying to stay un noniced and safe. In the world that they live in, survival is the only finis and the cin one casept of morality has become non-existent.Cannibalism is the greatest fear as every nonpareil is a predator. But in this Barren, silent, godless (4) world, where the days more gray each one then what had gone before (1) and where man is prey to man, the man and the son hold their ground. They have not yet lost their sense of morality and pooh-pooh to resort to a lifestyle that many around them have ad apted. To them certain(p) acts are intrinsically premature (OBrien) and never justifiable. This way of thinking and ethical scenery resonates with the concept of moral absolutism. This philosophical system, built on the foundations of Immanuel Kants depression that morality is the ability to act rationally, may be utilize as an explanation as to why the man and son stick to their principles. Though, the two have very similar beliefs, the extent to which they follow and believe in them is different as the boy has stronger moral values. Therefore, under Kants philosophy, the boy in Cormac McCarthys The Road is arguably a moral absolutist due to the upbringing and relationship among him and his father as they are twain accountable to one another and have a relationship as strong as one mingled with man and perfection.Absolutism or something that is absolute is a principle that is universally valid, and is viewed without relation to other things. Moral Absolutism is when moralit y is universally valid and certain principles are viewed without relation to other things therefore they remain absolute no matter what situation or context they are put it. As a result, moral absolutism outlines that certain acts are always immoral and are never justifiable regardless of the motivation behind them or the consequences of those actions. When analysing Kants philosophy on morality there are three aspects that need to be considered.Firstly, as mentioned before, moral principles are absolute and do not allow for exceptions. These principles are not questionable because if they are put into different contexts and hypothetical situations, this opens doors to potentially infinite number of revisions and subtle qualifiers, and leaves one in a moral messiness that Kant thought he was clarifying. (Rousseau) Secondly, Kant believed that all human beings are intrinsically important and that one should always respect the intrinsic worth of rational beings (Weilenberg). Therefore it is wrong to treat others as instrumental means for ones gain (Josephson Institute). Thirdly and finally Kant contri just nowed to the rule of Universality, which is that one should only act in a way that they believe would be appropriate if it was applied universally. Meaning that if one believes that an action is moral, would it remain moral if everyone around them was to act in that way. The rules and principles draw in Kants moral philosophy and the basics of moral absolutism are visible in The Road by Cormac McCarthy. The man and the boy follow this belief system but as mentioned before, the extent to which the boy follows or believes in them is much different than the man. The man refers to himself and his son as the good guys and as outlined in Weilenbergs essay they follow a moral code. This code consists of primarily never resorting to cannibalism, to not lying or stealing, helping others and never boastful up (Weilenberg). These principles are very similar to those out lined in Kantian moral philosophy. All rational beings should be respected and should not be used for ones own gain. Therefore cannibalism is never justifiable and helping others is a moral principle that must be followed. Throughout the novel, the man and the boy face many life threatening situations and it is during these situations that their level of morality is either weakened or strengthened. The first example of this would be when the man and the child chance upon a man who has been struck by lightning but the man convinces the boy that it is not beneficial for them to help even after the boys exhort (50).The man is ignoring principles and is focusing on his or their own good which goes against Kantian philosophy but even at this point the boy tries to convince his father otherwise. At another instance the boy responds to his father by saying, If you break little promises, youll break big ones (34) just as Kant argues that justifying one action opens up doors for an infinite number of possibilities which goes against absolutist principles. One of the main issues in the novel is cannibalism. The society in this post-apocalyptic world has in a way accepted cannibalism because of the threat of starvation but the man and the boy promise one another that no matter what the situation, they will not resort to it as the boy states, We wouldnt ever eat anybody, would we? .. No matter what? and the father reassures his son by repeating, No. No, matter what. This is the fundamental statement that shows an absolute moral. Therefore they are arguably following Kantian philosophy and abide by moral absolutism. The man and the boy are living in a world where morality does not exist as a result of this one many question the motivation behind the man and the boys moral standing. Though everyone around them has lost all sense of humanity, the two still follow certain principles. Early on in the novel, the man says, If he the boy is not the word of matinee idol beau id eal never spoke(5). Though this, it can be inferred that the man sees God in his son. He sees a superior being and a high truth in his son. The mans life surrounds around his sons survival and he is his one and only motivation.Same applies to the son, as they both rely and trust in one another. Not only is The Road a tale of survival in a post-apocalyptic world but it is also the tale of the bond between father and the son and how strong this bond can be. The father preaches absolute morals to his son and they are both accountable to one another. This, is arguably the reason as to why the man and the boy hold absolute morals and values. In God and Moral Absolutes, Mathew OBrien argues that once the existence of God is ruled out, it is impossible to demonstrate that there are moral absolutes. This argument can be looked with a different perspective. Though, the concept of God is not as strong in the man or the boys life their moral standing is very strong. Here the existence of God is ruled out but the bond between two people exists and as a result of this bond the father and son continue to live by their values. Also after the fathers death, the son continues to spiritually communicate with his father but it is stated, He tried to talk to God but the best thing was to talk to his father (286). Here, it may be argued that the bond between father and son was much stronger than that of man and God.

Rheumatoid Arthritis Essay Example for Free

Rheumatoid Arthritis EssayRheumatoid arthritis (RA) belongs to a class of auto repellent disorders that cause chronic vocalise inflammation as headspring as inflammation of the wavers surrounding the joints (Goronzy Weyand, 2001, p. 55). Other organs in the body are too affected when the cells fail to differentiate self from non-self. The failure of the immune cells to differentiate the bodys own cells from the foreign or intruding cells leads to autoimmunity where the immune cells attack the bodys own cells. Usu each(prenominal)(prenominal)y, the immune system is nonionised in a way that it seeks and destroys the bodys invaders particular the pathogens. The antibodies in patients with autoimmune infirmitys always target the bodys own tissues and cause inflammation. The cause resulting from the self-attack spreads to multiple body organs and this condition is commonly refer scarlet to as rheumatic arthritis (Arthritis Foundation, 2010). Epidemiology Rheumatoid arthritis is perhaps the commonest of altogether woebegone diseases and it affects about 1. 3 million volume in the U. S alone (Arthritis Foundation, 2010). Women are three times as riskier than men to be afflicted by the disease although the disease is common among all races in equal magnitude (Clair, Pisetsky, Haynes, 2001, p. 1).The total of women drop offing from rheumatoid arthritis are currently on the increase despite the recorded decline in numbers a few decades ago. The use of contraceptive pills containing insufficient estrogen as birth control measures has been blamed for the reduced immunity among women thus the increased cases of RA (Clair, Pisetsky, Haynes, 2001, p. 5). Environmental factors such as cigarette smoking are in addition to blame for the increase in disease cases among women. Although the general smoking rates excite declined in the United States, the rates of women smokers, separately considered, have not declined though. While genetic factors such as the r ole of human leukocyte antigen (HLA) DRB1 alleles have for long been guess to cause aberrations in proteins in immune cells, this has not been proved yet (Clair, Pisetsky, Haynes, 2001, p. 5). The risk among women has also been linked to the deficiency of vitamin D. Rheumatoid arthritis usually afflicts individuals of a considerable range of ages although it is commonly begins after one has attained the age of 40 although it is rare beyond the age of 60 (Silman Pearson, 2002, p. 267). It has also been shown that rheumatoid arthritis can pass away in multiple members of the same family. This observation suggests the propensity that the disease is inheritable (Goronzy Weyand, 2001, p. 55). A specific gene is suspected to be the underlying reason for the unidentified behavior of the immune cells attacking the bodys own cells. Pathophysiology and Pathogenesis Arthritis refers to some form of inflammation that occurs at the joints. Joints are points where two bones join each other and are critical for locomotion process. Rheumatoid arthritis results to the inflammation of the joint which is accompanied with severe pain, swelling, redness and stiffness in the joints.Rheumatoid arthritis can also lead to severe inflammation in tissues surrounding the joints such as ligaments, tendons and muscles. Chronic inflammation in some patients with rheumatoid arthritis can result into arrest destruction of the bones, cartilage and ligaments thus leading to serious joint deformities. Usually, destruction of the joints can occur in early stages if development but gets worse as one advances in age (Arthritis Foundation, 2010). The main cause of RA is not well known although bacteria, viruses and fungi have for long been in the suspect name without any of the biological agents been proved. As for this reason, intensive research efforts are being invested in the identification of the causal agents for RA. Genetic causes and environmental infectious agents have been associa ted with the madden immune system which goes out of control and attacks the bodys own cells (Goronzy Weyand, 2001, p. 55). The deranged immune system results into massive joint and organ inflammation which leads to rheumatoid arthritis. The common organs affected include the eyes and the lungs. Specifically, the activation of lymphocytes marks the start of the process of inflammation. In the inflamed cells, a number of chemical messengers are expressed including the interleukin-1 (IL-1), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) (Gupta Fomberstein, 2002, p. 3). Symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis experience episodic inflammatory symptoms depending on the extent of individual tissue inflammation. The disease is overly active following extensive tissue inflammation and contracts inactive after inflammation has subsided. The condition undergoes remission following treatment or ad lib and this can last for several days to years. In remission stage, patients feel well again until the conditions flares (return of symptoms and course of the disease). Active symptoms of RA include energy loss, wishing of appetite, fatigue, joint and muscle pain, stiffness and low-grade fever. The reddening and swelling of the joints at the point of inflammation is indicative of RA. The joints also travel tender and overly painful and the synovium, which is the tissue lining the joints, gets inflamed leading to overproduction of joint fluids or synovial fluid (Clair, Pisetsky, Haynes, 2001, p. 26).The inflammation of the synovium (synovitis) results mainly from its thickening. A number of organs and other body parts are affected in rheumatoid arthritis because the disease is a systemic condition. Specifically, the disease affects several body joints which are inflamed in a symmetrical manner mainly involving the small joints of the wrist and the hands (Clair, Pisetsky, Haynes, 2001, p. 12). The wrists and the hands are affecte d and the patients afflicted by the disease get it knockout to even open jars and turn door knobs. RA also affects a number of small joints of the feet. However, when a single joint is affected, the arthritis presents as joint contagious disease or gout. Damage to tissues, bones and cartilages results from chromic inflammation and this can eventually lead to a complete cartilage loss and bone and muscle weaknesses and erosion. Joints will become deformed, destroyed or may completely lose function. The vocal cords can be affected to a level of influencing the voice tone. The effect to the cricoarytenoid joint has been suggested to influence the voice tone and cause voice hoarseness of the afflicted individuals.Inflammation of the glands located in the mouth and eyes often cause dryness, a condition known as Sjogrens syndrome. Chest pain associated with shortness of breath, deep breathing or coughing results from pleuritis or the inflammation of the linings of the lungs (Clair, Pise tsky, Haynes, 2001, p. 18). Lungs tissues may become scarred, inflamed or rheumatoid nodules may form in the lungs. The pericardium or the tissues that surround the heart may become inflamed (pericarditis) and lead to massive bosom pain especially when afflicted individuals lean forward or lie down (Clair, Pisetsky, Haynes, 2001, p. 19).The total erythrocytes and leucocytes count immensely reduces and a reduction in red blood cells leads to anemia while a decrease in leucocytes results to the enlargement of the spleen, a condition known as the Feltys syndrome (Clair, Pisetsky, Haynes, 2001, p. 17). The region around the fingers and elbows may experience firm lumps known as the rheumatoid nodules (Clair, Pisetsky, Haynes, 2001, p. 16). While rheumatoid nodules do not lead to any significant symptoms, they can be give occasionally. In RA patients, the nerves may become pinched around the wrist area and result to carpal tunnel syndrome. While it is rare for patients to suffer from vasculitis, the condition is one of the serious complications associated with RA and can totally impair the supply of blood to the tissues and lead to necrosis or tissue death. In vasculitis, minute black spots around the beds of nails or ulcerations of the legs are commonly visible. Treatments To date, in that respect is no specific known treatment for rheumatoid arthritis. However, modern interventions have been direct towards reducing pain and inflammation of the joints and maximizing the functioning of the joints. With proper management such as X-ray monitoring, the damage to joints and improvement of joint functions can be achieved. A combination of medication, sufficient rest, joint protection, patient education and exercise to strengthen the joints has been proved effective (Clair, Pisetsky, Haynes, 2001, p. 146). The treatment plan is not uniform among all patients but depends on the disease activity, general health of the patient, the age and occupation of the patient an d the type of joints affected by RA.In all the treatment plans, there should be total cooperation between the patient, doctor and the family members. There are two main classes of drugs used in the management of RA the first-line drugs or the fast- acting drugs and the second-line or the delay acting drugs. Among the first-line drugs include aspirin and corticosteroids such as cortisone which are used in the management of joint inflation and pain. Second-line or slow acting medications, also known as disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) include agents such as methotrexate, hydroxycholoroquine and gold (Arthritis Foundation, 2010).These agents increase the chances for disease remission and prevent any progressive destruction of the joints but do not act as anti-inflammatory agents (Arthritis Foundation, 2010). Since the level of destructiveness from RA varies with individuals, treatment options also differ among individuals. For instance, patients with less destructive for ms of RA can be advised to have sufficient rest or given analgesic or anti-inflammatory drugs to manage the condition.Second-line medications can be administered in a seasonably manner to improve the function and minimize joint destruction and disability within a short period following disease diagnosis. However, a large(p) percentage of individuals suffering from aggressive form of RA require second-line drugs like methotrexate as well as the anti-inflammatory drugs. Different second-line drugs can also be given in combination regiment. In severe deformities of the joints, surgical procedure may be recommended to correct the deformities (Arthritis Foundation, 2010).
